White Granite Countertops: Maintenance and Cleaning

White granite colors require that you seal at least once per year, but we recommend that you seal twice per year especially if you go with white granite. Remember to clean with neutral PH stone cleaner or mild soap and water. Most chemicals will wear the sealer down and could cause stains to form.

Do White Granite Countertops Stain

Yes, any natural stone can stain from coffee, wine, and other colored liquids. To prevent your white countertops from staining, you will seal your granite at least once per year. It is recommended that you seal twice per year. Using chemical cleaners to clean your countertops can cause your sealer to break down and not work properly, so be sure to check out our maintenance guides.

Choosing the Right White Granite Color for your Project

Choosing the right white granite color for your countertop project depends on you, your project, your personality, your environment and so much more. What color are your cabinets? What color are your floors? What are your favorite features of the white granite colors we have shared with you? Asking these questions will start you in the right direction. Remember to bring a sample of your tile, cabinet color and anything you have for inspiration when visiting a local granite countertop provider.

Is There a Solid White Granite?

No, there is no such thing as a solid white granite. All white granite colors have chemical deposits in them that cause an array of various colors throughout. White granite slabs sometimes have more white than others so you will have to look for a very long time to find an almost solid white granite. If you do find it the cost will likely be extremely high.

Is White Granite More Expensive?

Typically white granite is more expensive than the other more busy granite colors. There are cheaper white granite colors available like SF Real Granite, Dallas White Granite, Valle Nevado Granite. These granites are white with a ton of other colors throughout and are sold in the $30 range. Some white granites like Alaskan White, Colonial White, and Kashmir White are typically in the $50 range.

Is There a White Granite That Looks Like Marble?

Some of the granites resembling a white marble would be Kashmir White, Bianco Romano, Casa Blanca, and Glacier White. While they may have characteristics of marble they will vary depending on the slab. Some of these slabs may look nothing like marble and some will.

Does White Granite Stain Easy?

If not properly sealed white granite does stain easily. If you do a water test you can find out if you need to seal your granite and be sure to get it done asap using our recommended granite sealers. Because white granite is so light in color a stain may penetrate the surface and be a bit more visible than compared to a darker granite. That is why I recommend using one of the sealers mentioned above.
